There is probably a better way, but the way I have always done it is quite simple! I just use Word and the Microsoft Clipart gallery images. (Formatting – comic sans with double spacing between words for easier readability, landscape orientation, and .5 inch margins all around) I have made a few just for our kids that incorporate their own photos. Photos are also fairly straightforward to insert into the Word doc. Once you have your text and images, print as a PDF. Easy Peasy =)

I am excited to use this too. I have been using your booklets for a long time, first in the k classroom and now with homeschooling my girls. Would you mind sharing how you made your books so I could make one with some pics of our family for the girls to read? I was also thinking I could probably motivate a not-super-motivated writer to create and type some books if she knew they would be on the ipad. Thanks.

Michelle – I’d never heard of those prayer books for boys and girls! I just downloaded the e-versions so I’ll have them handy on my phone. Thanks so much for your encouraging words! Keep it up! PS – I loved 1000 gifts too. I made it to #157 and haven’t written in it for months! Your post was a good reminder to pull it back out and set it on the counter. My goal: 3 a day!

WOW–This whole series has been such a blessing to me. I have struggled with this Mommy-vs-Teacher battle to one degree or another throughout my 12 years of homeschooling, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard another mom express the same struggle. Thank you for the time you put into encouraging us to keep our chins up and keep focused on what’s most important.

This speaks to my biggest struggle! My kids range in age from 3 to 16 and I constantly worry about whether I’m giving them all the attention they need. I guess what helps me most is to step back and look at the “big picture”–they’re all doing just fine! Thank you for these much-needed words of encouragement. WOW, I just stumbled onto your blog by googling the phrase “Colonial Sewing Party”, thinking it was a rather odd combination of words to google! My daughter is turning 8 next month, and has requested the exact same thing (loves Felicity, American history and crafts), and I am trying to figure out how to put it together.
